OVERVIEW:
Each year, GACVB offers scholarships to assist our professionals in attending Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College, the GACVB Winter Conference, the Georgia Tourism ConferenceGeorgia Group Sales Symposium, and NEW 2020 offering the RVIC Georgia Conference

Education Dates & Application Deadlines: 

The 2020 GACVB Winter Meeting will be held February 24-26, 2019 in Valdosta. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for assistance to the Winter Meeting has been extended to February 5, 2020.

The 2020 RVIC Georgia Conference produced by Explore Georgia (Georgia Department of Economic Development Tourism Division) will be held April 22-24 in Douglasville. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for registration assistance to the RVIC Conference is February 20, 2020. In making a concerted effort to reduce the impact of COVID-19 and to follow the recommendations by health organizations and leaders, Explore Georgia decided to cancel the RVIC Conference scheduled for April 22-24, 2020 in Douglasville to ensure the safety and well-being of partners and the public. The 2021 Georgia RVIC conference is confirmed for Douglasville April 21-23.

The 2020 Georgia Tourism Summit will be held September 2, 2020 at Lake Lanier Islands, Georgia.  The deadline to submit a scholarship application for the Georgia Tourism Summit registration is August 1, 2020.

The 2020 Georgia Group Sales Symposium will be held November 30-December 3, 2020 in Roswell, Georgia. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for Group Sales Symposium is Friday, October 23, 2020.

The 2020 Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College will be held December 6-11, 2020 at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for tuition assistance to STS Marketing College has been extended to November 15, 2020.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Applicant must be currently employed by a Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau (GACVB) member and only one applicant per member is permitted.
2. Applicant must have completed one year of employment with his/her organization.
3. Application MUST be approved by the sponsoring Executive Director, or the Board of Directors Chairman/President if the applicant is the Executive Director.
4. Upon receipt of this grant, the applicant's sponsoring organization agrees to reimburse GACVB 100% of the scholarship if the recipient leaves their employ for any reason within one year of receipt of the grant.

APPLICATIONS:

Each member organization can only submit one employee at a time for a scholarship; however, each applicant may apply for more than one scholarship - if you are awarded a scholarship to the GACVB Winter Meeting or the STS Marketing College or both, you may still apply for the Governor's Tourism Conference.  Separate applications are required for each meeting.

Applications include an essay requirement.  Essays should be no longer than one page with detailed responses to the following criteria for consideration:

1. Why the applicant deserves a scholarship and how it will benefit his/her professional goals.
2. The applicant's involvement in GACVB. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.
3. The applicant's involvement in community activities and organizations. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.
4. The applicant's involvement in other tourism organizations. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.
5. Please summarize the involvement that the applicant's sponsoring organization has with GACVB and/or other tourism organizations in the state of Georgia.
