Each year, GACVB offers scholarships to assist our member professionals in attending Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College, the Georgia Governor's Tourism Conference, as well as help fund our advocacy efforts at the state level. 

Funds for these scholarships are raised by member donations, and by the efforts of our Fundraising Committee. 

 "Because of the GACVB scholarship, I was able to attend both the GACVB Annual Conference and my first year of STS Marketing College, create connections with industry peers, expand my knowledge of marketing, develop skills to make me a stronger leader, and help my DMO continue to take the correct steps to meet our goals."

GACVB Scholarship Recipient

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Applicant must be currently employed by a Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau (GACVB) member and only one applicant per member is permitted.

• Applicant must have completed one year of employment with his/her organization.

• The destination professional's application MUST be approved by their department supervisor or DMO executive of the sponsoring organization or the Board of Directors Chairman/President if the applicant is the Executive Director.

• Upon receipt of this grant, the applicant must attend the conference or educational event as specified in the scholarship application. The sponsoring organization agrees to reimburse GACVB 100% of the scholarship if the recipient does not attend the conference or program.

APPLICATIONS:

• Each member organization can only submit one employee at a time for a scholarship.

• Application deadlines will be set prior to the event so that GACVB has adequate time for review and considerations. 

• Applications include an essay requirement.  Essays should be no longer than one page with detailed responses to the following criteria for consideration:

1. Why the applicant deserves a scholarship and how it will benefit his/her professional goals.

2. The applicant's involvement in GACVB. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.

3. The applicant's involvement in community activities and organizations. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.

4. The applicant's involvement in other tourism organizations. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.

5. Please summarize the involvement that the applicant's sponsoring organization has with GACVB and/or other tourism organizations in the state of Georgia.
