OVERVIEW:
Each year, GACVB offers scholarships to assist our member professionals in attending Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College, the GACVB Annual Conference, the Georgia Governor's Tourism Conference, and Georgia Group Sales Symposium

Education Dates & Application Deadlines for 2025: 

STS Marketing College: STS Marketing College will be held June 1-6, 2025. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for assistance to attend STS Marketing College is May 16, 2025. 

GACVB ANNUAL CONFERENCE: The 2026 GACVB Annual Conference. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for assistance to the Annual Conference is November 3, 2025.

GEORGIA GOVERNOR'S TOURISM CONFERENCE: The 2025 Georgia Governor's Tourism Conference produced by Explore Georgia (Georgia Department of Economic Development Tourism Division) will be held September 24-26, 2025, in Savannah Georgia. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for the Georgia Tourism Conference registration is August 1, 2025.

GROUP SALES SYMPOSIUM: The 7th Annual 2025 Georgia Group Sales, Marketing and Services Symposium. The deadline to submit a scholarship application for Symposium is September 26, 2025.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Applicant must be currently employed by a Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau (GACVB) member and only one applicant per member is permitted.
2. Applicant must have completed one year of employment with his/her organization.
3. The destination professional's application MUST be approved by their department supervisor or DMO executive of the sponsoring organization or the Board of Directors Chairman/President if the applicant is the Executive Director.
4. Upon receipt of this grant, the applicant must attend the conference or educational event as specified in the scholarship application. The sponsoring organization agrees to reimburse GACVB 100% of the scholarship if the recipient does not attend the conference or program. 

APPLICATIONS:

Each member organization can only submit one employee at a time for a scholarship; however, each applicant may apply for more than one scholarship - if you are awarded a scholarship to the GACVB Annual Conference or the STS Marketing College or both, you may still apply for the Georgia Governor's Tourism Conference.  Separate applications are required for each meeting.

Application deadlines will be set prior to the event so that GACVB has adequate time for review and considerations. 

Applications include an essay requirement.  Essays should be no longer than one page with detailed responses to the following criteria for consideration:

1. Why the applicant deserves a scholarship and how it will benefit his/her professional goals.
2. The applicant's involvement in GACVB. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.
3. The applicant's involvement in community activities and organizations. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.
4. The applicant's involvement in other tourism organizations. Please list all activities and/or committees the applicant was involved in over the past three years.
5. Please summarize the involvement that the applicant's sponsoring organization has with GACVB and/or other tourism organizations in the state of Georgia.
