Mission of The Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus

(GACVB) 

Welcome! The Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (GACVB) is a membership organization comprised of 100+ diverse organizations in the Georgia tourism industry. The bulk of our members are Destination Members, also known as, destination marketing organizations (DMOs) who operate as local tourism bureaus. We also have Industry Members which include organizations such as attractions, hotels, and other hospitality related businesses, as well as Strategic Partner suppliers who help our DMO and Industry Members reach their goals of attracting visitors. 

Our mission is to be the unified voice of Georgia’s destination marketing organizations and provide industry education, advocacy, and professional development opportunities to members.

We pursue this mission by:

• Raising the level of professionalism in the tourism industry through ongoing educational efforts

• Providing continuing education for our members

• Providing networking events for discussion on the techniques of destination management and marketing

• Exerting collective influence in matters which may impact the local or state tourism industry, as well as national issues that could potentially affect the Georgia tourism industry

• Positioning and promoting the tourism industry as an important economic generator in member communities and the state to increase the awareness of the industry

• Serving as a vehicle for the exchange of information related to the tourism industry
