February 28, 2017 - House Bill 141 Update

Thanks to a collaborative advocacy effort between GACVB, GATA, GHLA, and a few others, we can report that HB 141 did not pass out of the House Ways and Means Committee yesterday. Committee Chairman Jay Powell indicated that the measure was pulled from the agenda due to not being vetted well enough.

Thank you to our members who called and emailed the members of the House Ways and Means Committee so quickly.  We will continue to monitor this issue through the remainder of the session.

GACVB's #1 legislative policy is to protect Georgia's hotel/motel tax dollars from policies that would erode funding for tourism/destination marketing.  We will remain vigilant on any efforts to take funds away from destination marketing budgets.
